BTS: Building WakaMi App — Challenges, Learnings, and What’s Next
If you’ve been following our WakaMi journey, you’ll know one thing well already: we’re not in a hurry to just launch. To be honest, in Naija, anything that takes “too much time” quickly becomes a topic of conversation. Nigeria moves fast, that’s part of who we are. But for WakaMi, quick without quality isn’t the win we’re building for.
This blog is us, heart-to-heart: a little inside scoop on the sweat, the sometimes small small frustrations, the big laughs, and the bigger lessons we’ve collected while building the WakaMi app.

At First, It Was Just an Idea — Then It Became Real Work
In the early days, WakaMi was just a vision: a place where people can find each other, build together, and do big things. Simple, abi?
But when you start turning ideas into lines of code, designs, user flows, backend logic, fixes, tweaks, and re-fixes… “simple” starts to feel... well, not so simple.
We are a team full of perfectionists, and that’s both our strength and our challenge. We go back and forth over colors, over flows, over button placements — because every tiny thing matters when you want something to feel right in the hands of real people.
And that takes time.

So What’s Next?
We’re in the final stretch.
Soon, you’ll see what we’ve been building. And when that wow factor hits you? We’ll know that every late night, every redesign, every “redo” was worth it.
We’re building for you, the Nigerian user, the hustler, the creator, the person who wants something that works really well and not something half-cooked.
Your feedback keeps us going. Your excitement fuels us.
Stay tuned. WakaMi is coming soon — and when it lands, it’s going to be worth the walk.
